Terms of Service
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Zana (“Zana”, “we”, “us”) is an AI assistant service operated by Ezana Kavuma, reachable through the website at zanaops.com and the app at zana-app.onrender.com. These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use Zana, including shared Workspaces. Zana is an independent product. It is not an official service of Cornell University, Alpha Delta Phi, or any other organization that uses it.
2. Who can use Zana
- You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, and able to form a binding contract.
- You are responsible for your account, your password or access code, and anything done through your account.
- Give us accurate information. Do not share your account.
3. What Zana does
- Core understands what you want and answers. Plan turns a goal into a written plan you can read. Act carries out an accepted plan.
- Nothing runs until you accept a plan. Accepting a plan is your authorization for exactly the actions the plan lists (for example, “reply to scheduling and question emails, up to 20 a day”). The plan shows what Zana may do on its own, what always needs you, and its limits.
- When Zana sends an email or changes your calendar, it does so as you, through your own connected account. The people who receive it will see it as coming from you.
- You can pause or stop Act, change a plan, or disconnect an account at any time. Actions already taken (for example, an email already sent) cannot always be undone.
4. AI can be wrong — your responsibility
- Zana uses artificial-intelligence models. Outputs can be incomplete, outdated, or wrong, and replies written “in your voice” may not say exactly what you would have said.
- Review plans before you accept them, and check important messages, dates, and decisions. Use the limits and “ask me first” options for anything personal, financial, legal, medical, or sensitive.
- Zana does not give legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice. Do not rely on it as a substitute for a professional.
- You are responsible for the actions you authorize, including messages sent and events created under an accepted plan.
5. Connected accounts (Google, GitHub, others)
- You choose what to connect and what access to give. You can lower or remove access, or disconnect, at any time in Zana, and also in your Google or GitHub account settings.
- Zana’s use of information it receives from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. See our Privacy Policy for exactly how.
- You must have the right to connect the accounts you connect and to let Zana act on them. Follow the terms of those services.
6. Shared Workspaces
- A Workspace (for example, a chapter or team) has administrators and members. Messages, requests (“Capsules”), and other content you put into a Workspace can be seen by the people it is shared with, including Workspace administrators, as the Workspace shows. Your Personal Zana is separate from Workspaces.
- Capsules are internal to Zana by default. If a person chooses to email a Capsule, it is sent from their connected account only to people whose Zana account has an email.
- Administrators are responsible for how they use a Workspace and for the rules they set for their members.
7. Acceptable use
Do not use Zana to break the law; to send spam, harassment, deceptive or unsolicited bulk messages; to impersonate someone; to infringe others’ rights; to attempt to access other people’s data; to probe, overload, or bypass security or usage limits; to automate bypassing CAPTCHAs or bot detection; or to build or distribute malware. We may limit, suspend, or end access that we reasonably believe breaks these rules or puts others at risk.
8. Your content
You keep ownership of what you put into Zana and of what Zana creates for you from it. You give us the limited permission needed to store, process, and display it to run the service for you, including sending it to the AI model providers and connected services you use through Zana. We do not use your private content to train our own models, and we do not sell it.
9. Fees and usage limits
Zana may include usage limits or paid plans. If a price applies, it will be shown to you before you pay, and we will not charge you without your clear confirmation. Where a plan has a spending or usage cap, Zana will pause paid work when the cap is reached. We will give notice before changing a price that affects you.
10. Availability and changes
Zana is provided as it exists and may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued. We may update these terms; if a change is significant we will tell you in the app or by email before it applies, and continued use after that means you accept it. If you do not agree, stop using Zana and delete your account.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using Zana at any time, disconnect your accounts, and ask us to delete your data (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or end access for breaking these terms or for legal reasons. Sections that by nature should continue (such as ownership, disclaimers, and limits of liability) continue after you stop.
12. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows, Zana is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not promise that Zana will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its actions will always produce the result you intended.
13. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of Zana, including actions taken by Zana under a plan you accepted. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited (for example, for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence), and some places do not allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
14. Indemnity
If you break these terms or the law in using Zana, and that causes a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable losses from that claim, to the extent the law allows.
15. Disputes and law
We would like to hear about a problem first and try to fix it informally — write to us using the contact below. Nothing here removes any right you have under mandatory consumer law in the place you live.
